I never thought that I'll become a librarian. Honestly speaking, during undergrad days I'm not a frequent library users or shall I say my fondness in reading is very little. Those were the days wherein I only rely on my textbooks given by our professors sometimes I read textbooks just to check my horoscope and know the hottest and latest in showbiz (hahaha...that was then). In spite of this I was destined to become a librarian. I am happy and proud of our profession because it molded my whole being and I was like a cocoon that turns into a butterfly. Learning to organize library collections, serving the library community, attending seminars and reading were the treasures I found in our profession. My dear friends the following authors and their masterpiece inspired, motivated and changed me:
The difference between knowledge and wisdom authored by Ed Lapiz. After reading the book it made me realized that living our life with only knowledge of something is like living inside the box. It means it is not enough that we know something will happen but we should believe that it will happen-Knowledge without faith is useless... So get out of the box! Have faith and make a difference... Don't focus on what pain, sickness and problems can bring us because there is nothing to fear about when God is with us obeying the will of God will put us in the right path... Keep in mind the bigger faith we have the greater success we'll have.
25 ways to win people : how to make others feel like a million bucks authored by John Maxwell and Les Parrott is all about building a positive and healthy relationships, how to give honest compliments to a person in front of other people, the positive feeling it can give to other people when you remembered their names and the memories you had and how to encourage others to pursue your dreams. After reading the book it made me realized that bringing out the best in others will also bring out the best in you.
The Secret Authored by Rhonda Bryne, the book is about the law of attraction meaning whatever comes into your mind comes out of your life. Yes, it's about attracting positive people, things, events and values in our life. How can you do this of course it will always begin in you. Meaning you will make things happen that way you want it to happen! You will visualize the things that you want to achieve make and believe that it is yours already and once you have it treasure it and share it to others.
Goal-free living : how to have the life that you want now authored by Stephen Shapiro, the book is about living for each moment, following our passion to possibly have a successful life as the author said "Joy comes from the journey not from reaching the destination."
The Last lecture authored by Randy Paush, co-authored by Jeffrey Zaslow, the book is about a man who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and was asked to give a lecture about achieving your childhood dreams, conquering the brick walls in our life, enabling the dreams of others, and seizing every moment. In the book you will also see the importance of family, the true meaning of compassion, generosity and sacrifice. In a nutshell the book is about a dying man who taught about living.
Bo Sanchez Soulfood Newsletter @ www.bosanchez.ph his articles portrait the real meaning of FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE. The articles made me realized that the simpler we are the happier life we'll have, we can only enjoy God's blessings when we learn to share it to others and we should always try to see the good things in everyone.
I still recalled how other people underestimated me for being naive and fragile. Truly life changed after gradually applying the lessons implied from the books. A quiet type lady turned to high-spirited woman. In a nutshell these books convey to us that we should always think positive, learn to make a difference and live each day as if it's the last day our life.
